a kid’s boo-boo needs a bandage, but so do many other things in the world. so goes the philosophy of Dede, the artist behind the “bandaid” design splattered on many of our summer styles. Introducing Dede one of three talented artists we’ve collaborated with on our “nununu for the arts summer 2022” collection.

working in an entirely urban context, Dede comments on the context of the city and the many questions it raises on a personal and societal level. putting a bandaid here, there and everywhere reminds us that we all, individually and collectively, need a little healing sometimes.

we’ve always loved Dede’s iconic, cartoonish design for the way it symbolizes the growing pains of kidhood and how we can get through them with proper care, attention, and a healthy dose of humor. we’d seen the image in some unlikely places, and we thought—why not stick a bandaid on our super-cool tops, pants, dresses and shoes? thus began one of our favorite collabs in recent memory.

as for Dede, he continues to operate in many medias, creating urban narratives, gathering stories from the streets as inspiration. In a perfect contradiction, the artist that loves to splatter his works all over so many cities in the world, prefers to keep his identity a secret and so no one, us included, know who the person behind the art is… secrecy or not, dede regularly exhibits in galleries, exhibitions, art events, and on the streets of London, New York, Berlin, and his hometown of Tel-Aviv.

“I was seeking a way to express and heal my wounds. The band aid became a symbol for all kinds of difficulties – personal and social — seeking remedies.”  – Dede
